Armageddon
At Revelation 16:16, the Hebrew word ‘Armagedon’ is used to describe the location of the battle of the Great Day of The God, the Almighty. In Hebrew it would actually sound like ‘HarMagedon’.
Normally in English, we spell it as ‘Armageddon’.
It’s widely considered to be a compound word that means ‘Mount of Megiddo.’ Megiddo is a city in the northern part of Israel. There is no mountain there, just a small artificial hill that was built up over centuries from settlement (whether deliberately or from discarded rubbish and other waste accumulations). Officially, it’s a fortified city, or a ‘Tell’.
It was the site of two battles in the Old Testament at Judges 5:19 and 2 Kings 23:29.
Others believe ‘HarMagedon’ is also a play on words, referencing the Hebrew term ‘har mo'ed’ (which means ‘the mountain of the assembly’).
