2001 Translation

1

Introduction

¹The revelation of JesusYeshuaIshoa the Anointed One, which The God gave to him, to show his servants the things that must quickly happen.

He communicated it by sending his messenger to his servant, John, ²who testified to the Word of The God and the testimony of JesusYeshuaIshoa the Anointed One, yes, everything he saw.

³Blest is the one who reads it aloud, as well as those who listen to the words of this prophecy and obey the things written in it; because the appointed time is near!

To the Seven Congregations

⁴From John, to the seven congregations in Asia [Minor]:

May you find loving care and peace from The One who is, who was, and who is coming, as well as from the seven spirits that are in front of his throne, ⁵and from JesusYeshuaIshoa the Anointed One, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To the one who loves us and who freed us from our sins by his own blood, ⁶and who made us to be [a] kingdom and priests to The God and to his Father.

May his glory and might be into the ages of the ages.

May it be so!

⁷{Look!} He’s coming with the clouds and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him, and all the nations of the earth will wail because of him.

Yes, may it be so!

⁸‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End…’

…says [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” The God…

‘The One who is, who was, and who is coming… The Almighty!’

The Vision Begins

⁹I, John, am your brother who shares in your difficulties and kingdom, and in your endurance in JesusYeshuaIshoa, the Anointed One. I was on this island called Patmos because of the Word of The God and because of my testimony about JesusYeshuaIshoa, the Anointed One.

¹⁰Now, on the Lord’s day [possibly meaning Sunday], I came to be in the breath [or wind]… And I heard [a] voice from behind me that was as loud as [a] trumpet!

¹¹And it was saying:

[‘I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last]spurious?

‘Write what you [are about to] see on [a] scroll and send it to these seven congregations:

• Ephesus,
• Pergamum,
• Thyatira,
• Smyrna,
• PhilaDelphia,
• LaoDicea,
• And Sardis.

¹²Then I turned around to see who was speaking to me. But when I turned… I saw seven gold lampstands! ¹³And between the seven lampstands, [I saw] someone [that looked] like [a] human… He was dressed in [a] robe that came down to his feet, and around his chest was [a] golden sash.

¹⁴His head and hair were as bright as white wool or snow, and his eyes were as flames of fire. ¹⁵His feet looked like the finest copper as if glowing in [a] smelter.

His voice sounded like the [rushing] noise that’s made by lots of water.

¹⁶In his right hand [he held] seven stars, and [a] sharp, two-edged sword was protruding from his mouth, and his face glowed as brightly as the sun in its full strength!

¹⁷Well when I saw him, I fell at his feet like [a] dead man.

Then he laid his right hand on me and said:

‘Don’t be afraid! I’m the first, the last, ¹⁸and the living one. And although I died, {Look!} I am living throughout ages of ages. I also hold the keys to death and the place of the dead.

¹⁹‘Therefore, you must write down:

• What you saw,
• What is [happening now],
• And what will happen after these things.

²⁰‘As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, they are the seven gold lampstands.

‘The seven stars are the messengers of the seven congregations, and the seven lampstands are the seven congregations.’

To Ephesus

¹‘Write this to the messenger of the congregation in Ephesus. Tell him:

‘The one holding the seven stars in his right [hand], and who walks among the seven gold lampstands, said this:

²‘I know your works, your hard work and your endurance, that you don’t tolerate evil men, and that you’ve tested those who claim to be Apostles but really aren’t, showing them to be liars.

³‘You’ve also been patient, because you’ve been bearing my name and you haven’t given up.

⁴‘However, I hold this against you: You’ve abandoned the love that you had at first! ⁵You need to recognize how far you’ve fallen and turn around… Go back to doing what you did at the first!

‘For if you don’t (and unless you repent), I’ll be coming to you, and I’ll remove your lampstand from its place.

⁶‘However, you have this [to your credit]: You hate what the Nicolaitans are doing, and I also hate what they’re doing.’

⁷‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!

‘I’ll allow those who conquer to eat from the Tree of Life that’s in the middle of The God’s paradise.’

To Smyrna

⁸‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in Smyrna. Tell him:

‘This is what the one who is the first, the last, and who died and came to life, has to say:

⁹‘I know about your works, your problems, and your poverty (although you’re really rich), and about the blasphemy of those who say they’re Jews, although they’re really not! [A] synagogue of the Slanderer is what they are!

¹⁰‘Don’t be afraid of the things that you’re about to suffer, for {Look!} the Slanderer is about to throw some of you into prison to be tested, and you’ll experience distress for 10 days.

‘But if you’ll be faithful to death, I’ll give you the garland of life.’

¹¹‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!

‘The ones who conquer won’t be harmed by the second death!’

To Pergamum

¹²‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in Pergamum. Tell him:

‘The one who has the long, sharp, two-edged sword said this:

¹³‘I know that the place where you’re living is the very throne of the Slanderer, and yet you keep hanging onto my name. For you didn’t deny your faith in me even in the days of AntiPas, my faithful witness, who was killed among you in the place where the Slanderer lives.

¹⁴‘However, I still hold [a] few things against you, for there are some among you who are following the teachings of BalaAm – the one who taught Balak how to set a trap before the Sons of IsraEl [by getting them] to eat sacrifices to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

¹⁵‘You also have those who likewise follow the Nicolaitans’ teachings. ¹⁶So turn around! For if you don’t, I’ll come to you soon, and [I’ll] fight [a] war against them with my mouth’s sword!’

¹⁷‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!

‘To the one who conquers, I’ll give some of the hidden manna and [a] white pebble. And on this pebble, there’s written [a] new name which nobody will know except the one who receives [it].’

To Thyatira

¹⁸‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in Thyatira. Tell him:

‘The Son of The God (the one who has eyes like flames of fire and whose feet are like fine copper) said this:

¹⁹‘I know [about] what you do and [about your] love, faith, service, and endurance… And what you’ve done recently is more than in the past!

²⁰‘However, I do hold much against you:

‘You have put up with that woman JezeBel, the one who calls herself [a] ‘prophetess’; and she teaches and misleads my servants to commit immoral sexual acts and to eat idol sacrifices. ²¹And I gave her time so she might repent, but she doesn’t want to turn away from this immorality.

²²‘So {Look!} I’ll throw her into [a] stretcher for carrying the dead and those committing adultery with her into great distress if they don’t turn away from her works. ²³I’m also going to condemn her children to death. And all the congregations will know that I’m the one searching [their] emotions and minds, and that I will repay all of you individually according to your deeds.

²⁴‘But, to the rest of you in Thyatira (those of you who don’t have this teaching and who haven’t known, as they say, the ‘deep things of the Slanderer’), I’m saying that I won’t put any other burden on you. ²⁵Nevertheless, hang on to what you have until I get there!

²⁶‘And to the one who’s conquering and observing my works down to the end, I’ll give that one authority over the nations. ²⁷And he will shepherd them with [an] iron rod, like [how] clay pots are shattered, using the same [authority] that I received from my Father.

²⁸‘I’ll also give that one the morning star.’

²⁹‘Yes, let the one who has ears listen to what the breath says to the congregations!’

To Sardis

¹‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in Sardis. Tell him:

‘The one who has the seven breaths of The God and the seven stars says this:

‘I know your works, that you have [a] reputation for being alive… But you’re [really] ‘dead’!

²‘So you must wake up and strengthen what [little is] left that’s about to die, because I haven’t found your works to be fully accomplished in the sight of my God.

³‘You must start remembering in what way you’ve received and heard, then hang onto it and repent! For if you don’t stay awake, I’ll arrive like [a] thief… And you’ll have no idea what hour I’ll be upon you!

⁴‘However, you have [a] few names in Sardis that haven’t dirtied their clothes. These will walk with me in white [grarments], because that’s what they truly deserve. ⁵Yes, the one who conquers — this one will be dressed in white clothes. I’ll never erase that one’s name from the Scroll of Life, and then I’ll admit to knowing their name before my father and his messengers.’

⁶‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!’

To PhilaDelphia

⁷‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in PhilaDelphia. Tell him:

‘The true one, the holy one, [the one] having the key of David (the one who opens, and nobody will [be able to] close; the one who closes, and nobody will [be able to] open) says these things:

⁸‘I know what you’re doing, and {Look!} I’ve put [an] open door before you that nobody can close, because you don’t have much strength, and you’ve kept my word and you haven’t denied knowing my name.

⁹‘So from the Opposer’s synagogue I’ve given [you some of] those who claim to be Jews (but who really aren’t and are just lying)… {Look!} I’m going to make them come and bow at your feet, and you’ll know that I’ve loved you!

¹⁰‘Also, since you’ve obeyed my instructions concerning my patience, I’m going to protect you from the hour of trial that’s coming upon the entire inhabited earth, to test everyone living upon the land.

¹¹‘I’m coming soon, so hang on, and don’t let anyone steal your garland! ¹²For I’ll make the one who conquers [a] pillar in the temple sanctuary of my God, and they’ll never leave it. I’ll also write my God’s Name upon them, as well as the name of my God’s city, the freshly new JeruSalem, which will come down from my God’s sky, along with my new name.’

¹³‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!’

To LaoDicea

¹⁴‘And write this to the messenger of the congregation in LaoDicea. Tell him:

‘The Amen, the faithful and true witness, the start of The God’s creation, said this:

¹⁵‘I know what you’re doing, and that you’re neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! ¹⁶Since you’re lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I’m going to vomit you out of my mouth!

¹⁷‘For you’re saying:

‘I’m rich, and because I’m rich, I don’t need anything!’

‘However, what you don’t realize is that you’re really miserable, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked!

¹⁸‘Therefore, I advise you to buy from me gold that has been refined by fire, so that you can become [truly] rich and can wear white robes, so that nobody will see the shame of your nakedness.

‘Also, buy some salve to rub on your eyes so you can see!

¹⁹‘I correct and discipline all those whom I really care for. So then, be zealous… And repent!

²⁰'{Look!} I’m standing at the door and knocking! And if anyone hears my voice and they open that door, I’ll come in to them and I’ll dine with that one, and they [will dine] with me. ²¹Then I’ll allow the one who conquers to sit down with me on my throne, just like how I have conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.’

²²‘Let the one who has ears hear what the breath says to the congregations!’

A Door Opens Up to the Sky

¹Well, after that, {Look!} I saw [a] door that had been opened in the sky. Then {Look!} the first voice that I heard (which sounded like [a] trumpet) was speaking with me, saying:

‘Now, come on up here, and I’ll show you what must happen after this.’

²[At that,] I immediately became [swept up] in [the] wind!

The Throne of God

And {Look!}… There was [a] throne in the sky, and [someone was] sitting on the throne. ³The one sitting [on it] looked like [orange] jasper and [red] sardius stone, and all around his throne were priests looking like [green] emerald.

⁴And around the throne, [there were] 24 [more] thrones and elders sitting, dressed in white… And on their heads were gold garlands.

⁵And from the throne came lightning, thunder, and voices! Also, seven flaming lamps were burning in front of the throne. These are the seven breaths of The God.

⁶Also in front of the throne [there was] [a] transparent sea that looked like crystal.

The Four Creatures

And in the midst of the throne and around the throne there were four beasts covered with eyes on their fronts and backs!

• ⁷The first beast looked like [a] lion,
• The second looked like [a] young bull,
• The third had the face of [a] man,
• And the fourth looked like [a] flying eagle.

⁸Also, each of the four beasts has six wings that are all around them, and inside [their wings] they’re full of eyes. These don’t rest night or day, saying:

‘Holy, holy, holy is [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord”, The God, The Almighty… The One who was, who is, and is coming.’

⁹And when the beasts give glory, honor, and thanks to the One sitting on the throne (the One living into the age of ages) (May it be so), ¹⁰the 24 elders will fall down before the One sitting on the throne, and they’ll bow down to the living One into the ages of ages (May it be so).

And they will throw their garlands to him in front of the throne, saying:

¹¹‘You, [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord”, the Lord and our God, deserve all the glory, honor, and power, because You created everything… Yes, everything was created and exists because You willed it into existence!’

The Scroll

¹Then I saw [a] scroll in the right hand of the One sitting on the throne; both sides had been written on, and it had been sealed with seven seals.

²And at that, I saw [a] mighty messenger who called out in [a] loud voice:

‘Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?’

³However, there wasn’t anyone in the heavens or on the earth who was able to open the scroll nor [anyone able] to examine it. ⁴So I wept profusely, because nobody worthy was found to open the scroll nor to examine it.

⁵But then, one of the elders says to me:

‘Stop crying!

'{Look!} The Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Origin of David, has conquered to open the scroll and to loosen its seven seals!’

The Lamb

⁶And [that’s when] in the midst of the throne, the four beasts, and the elders, I saw standing there [a] lamb that had been slaughtered. [It] had seven horns, plus seven eyes, which are the seven breaths of The God that have been dispached into all the earth.

⁷Then he went right up and took [the scroll] from the right hand of the One sitting on the throne. ⁸And when he took the scroll, the four beasts and the 24 elders fell down in front of the lamb, each of them having harps and gold bowls filled with incense (which are the holy ones’ prayers) ⁹and they sang [a] new song, which went [like this]:

‘You’re worthy to take the scroll,
And to open [all of] its seals.
For, you were [the one] slaughtered;
With your blood, you bought us for The God.

‘From every tribe, language, people, and race,
¹⁰You made them [into a] kingdom,
And [as a] priesthood to our God,
To reign upon the land.’

¹¹Then I looked and I heard [what sounded] like the voice of many messengers (and the beasts and the elders) who were around the throne. They numbered 10,000 times 10,000, and 1,000 times 1,000!

¹²[And they were all] shouting in [a] loud voice:

‘This lamb who was slaughtered deserves to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!’

¹³And I heard every creature in the sky, upon the ground, [under the ground]spurious? in the sea, and [all] the [things] in them, saying to the One sitting on the throne [and] to the lamb:

‘[Yes,] the praise, the honor, the glory, and the rule throughout the ages of ages!’

¹⁴And [during all of that,] the four beasts were saying, ‘May it be so,’ as the elders got down and bowed to their faces.

The First Seal is Opened

¹And I saw when the lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four beasts say in [a] thundering voice:

‘Come and see!’

²And {Look!} I saw [a] white horse. The one sitting on it having [a] bow, and he was given [a] garland… And he went off conquering and he defeated [his enemies].

The Second Seal is Opened

³And after that, he opened the second seal, and I heard the second beast say:

‘Come ⁴and see!’

So I looked, and {Look!} another horse went off, [a] fiery red [one]. The one riding it was authorized to remove peace [from the earth]spurious? so that [people] would slaughter each other… And he was given [a] large sword.

The Third Seal is Opened

⁵Then he opened the third seal, and I heard the third beast say:

‘Come and see!’

And at that, I saw {Look!} [a] black horse. The one riding it had [a] weighing beam in his hand. ⁶And I heard [something] like [a] voice [coming from] within the midst of the four beasts, saying:

‘[One] loaf of bread for [a] day’s wages.
And three cakes of barley for [a] day’s wages.
And you shouldn’t waste any olive oil or wine!’

The Fourth Seal is Opened

⁷Then when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast saying:

‘Come and see!’

⁸And I saw, and {Look!} [a] pale greenish-yellow horse. The one riding it was named Death… And the Place of the Dead was following closely behind him.

These [four horsemen] were given authority over [a] quarter of the earth to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the land’s wild animals.

The Fifth Seal is Opened

⁹And when he opened the fifth seal, underneath the Altar I saw the lives of those who had been slaughtered because of the Word of The God and because of the testimony they held.

¹⁰They cried out with [a] loud voice, asking:

‘For how much longer, O Master, the holy and true One, will You not pass judgment and avenge our blood upon those living on the earth?’

¹¹Well at that, they were each given [a] white robe and they were told to rest just [a] little while longer, until their fellow servants and brothers (who were about to be killed, just as they had been) were completed [in number].

The Sixth Seal is Opened

¹²Then I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and [a] great shaking occurred, and the sun became as black as hairy sackcloth and the entire moon became like blood!

¹³And at that, the stars in the skies fell to the earth like [how a] fig tree drops its unripe figs when it’s shaken by [a] strong wind! ¹⁴Then the sky departed, rolled up like [a] scroll, and every mountain and hill moved from their positions!

¹⁵Well, all the kings of the earth, all the important people, all the military commanders, all the rich and powerful, as well as all the servants and free people went and hid themselves in caves and among the stone of the mountains.

¹⁶And they tell the mountains and stones:

‘Come down over us and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne and from the rage of the lamb… ¹⁷Because the great day of his rage has arrived, and who can survive [it]?’

The Four Messengers Holding Back the Winds

¹Then I saw four messengers who were standing on each of the four corners of the earth, holding [back] the earth’s four winds so they won’t blow on the land, on the sea, nor on any tree.

²And after that, I saw another messenger rising from the sunrise, and he was carrying the seal of the living God.

Then he shouted loudly to the four messengers who had the authority to harm the land and the sea, saying:

³‘Don’t harm the land, the sea, nor the trees until we seal the servants of our God on their foreheads.’

⁴Well, [that’s when] they heard the number of those sealed: one hundred and forty [[four]] thousand sealed ones, out of every tribe of IsraEl’s children:

• ⁵12,000 sealed ones out of the tribe of Judah,
• 12,000 out of the tribe of ReuBen,
• [[12,000 out of the tribe of Gad,]]
• ⁶12,000 out of the tribe of Asher,
• 12,000 out of the tribe of NaphTali,
• 12,000 out of the tribe of ManasSeh,
• ⁷[[12,000 out of the tribe of SimeOn,]]
• 12,000 out of the tribe of Levi,
• 12,000 out of the tribe of IsSachar,
• ⁸12,000 out of the tribe of ZebuLun,
• 12,000 of the tribe of BenJamin,
• 12,000 out of the tribe of JoSeph.

[All] sealed ones.

The Large Crowd

⁹And after these things, I saw, and {Look!}, a huge crowd [so big] that nobody was able to count [its size]. [They came] from all races, tribes, peoples, and languages, [all] standing in front of the throne and in front of the lamb. [They were] wearing white robes with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰and with a loud voice, they shouted out:

‘We owe our salvation to our God, the One sitting on the throne, and to the lamb!’

¹¹Well, all the messengers were standing around the throne, along with the elders and the four beasts. And they [all] got down on their faces in front of the throne and bowed to The God, ¹²saying:

‘May it be so! May our God have all the praise, glory, wisdom, thanks, honor, power, and strength throughout ages of ages… May it be so!’

¹³And one of the elders responded [to this by] saying to me:

‘Just who are these [ones] dressed in the white robes? And where did they come from?’

¹⁴And I replied to him:

‘My lord, [surely] you’re the one who knows!’

Then he told me:

‘These are the ones coming out of the great distress; they’ve washed their robes in the lamb’s blood and made them white.

¹⁵‘This is why they’re under the gaze of the throne of The God, and they serve him day and night in his temple sanctuary. The One sitting on the throne will set up his tent over them, ¹⁶then they won’t be hungry or thirsty anymore, nor will the sun beat down on them with blistering heat. [Isaiah 49:10]

¹⁷‘For the lamb that’s in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and guide them to water springs of life [Isaiah 49:10], and The God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ [Isaiah 25:8]

The Seventh Seal is Opened

¹Well, when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half [an] hour.

²Then I saw the seven messengers who were standing in front of The God, and seven trumpets were distributed to them.

³And at that, another messenger arrived and stood beside the altar. He was carrying [a] gold incense bowl. Then he was given [a] large quantity of incense so that he might offer all the holy ones’ prayers upon the golden altar in front of the throne.

⁴So the incense smoke for the holy ones’ prayers, [offered] by the messenger’s hand, ascended in front of The God.

⁵[Well after that,] the messenger took the incense burner and filled it with some of the fire from the altar, and he threw it to the ground [or earth]! And there were thunders, voices, lightning flashes, and [a] great shaking.

⁶Then the seven messengers holding the seven trumpets got themselves ready to blow the trumpet[s].

The First Trumpet Blast

⁷So the first one blew [his] trumpet, and hail and fire that was mixed with blood was thrown down to the earth, and:

• 1/3 of the land burned up,
• 1/3 of the trees burned up,
• And 1/3 of all of the green-yellow grass burned up.

The Second Trumpet Blast

⁸Then the second [messenger] blew [his] trumpet, and [what looked] like [a] huge mountain, burning in flames, was thrown down into the sea, and:

• 1/3 of the sea turned into blood,
• ⁹1/3 of the creatures that were alive in the sea died,
• And 1/3 of the ships were destroyed.

The Third Trumpet Blast

¹⁰Then the third messenger blew his trumpet, and [a] huge star that was burning like [a] torch fell out of the sky onto:

• 1/3 of the rivers,
• And onto 1/3 of the water springs.

¹¹And the name of the star is said to be Wormwood.

Then 1/3 of the waters turned into wormwood, and many of the people died from the waters because they had been turned bitter.

The Fourth Trumpet Blast

¹²Well, when the fourth messenger blew his trumpet:

• 1/3 of the sun,
• 1/3 of the moon,
• And 1/3 of the stars were struck.

This was so that 1/3 of [their light] would be darkened and 1/3 of the day wouldn’t appear, and the same for the night.

¹³And [then] I saw and heard [an] eagle that was flying high up in the sky, calling out with [a] loud voice:

‘Woe! Woe!

‘Woe to those living on the earth because of the remaining trumpet sounds of the three messengers, [who] are about to blow [their trumpets]!’

The Fifth Trumpet Blast

¹Now the fifth messenger sounded [his] trumpet:

Then I saw [a] star from heaven that had fallen down to the earth, and this one was given the key to the underground cistern of the abyss, ²and smoke poured out from the cistern, like smoke from [a] huge furnace… The sun and the air were darkened from the cistern’s smoke!

³Well at that, locusts exited the smoke, [heading] into the land, and they were given authority, just as the earth’s scorpions have authority.

⁴However, they were told not to damage any of the land’s grass, nor any tree, just the humans who don’t have The God’s seal on their foreheads.

⁵This [order] was given to them so they wouldn’t kill them, but so they’d be tormented for five months. The torment would be like [a] scorpion’s sting when it strikes [a] person. ⁶So during that time, people will look for death but absolutely won’t find it.

Yes, they’ll want to die, but death will escape them.

Description of the Locusts

⁷The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle:

• On their heads were garlands that look like gold,
• Their faces looked like humans’ faces,
• ⁸They had hair like women’s hair,
• Their teeth were like those of lions,
• ⁹They had breastplates [that looked] like iron breastplates,
• The sound of their [flapping] wings sounded like many horses’ chariots running into battle,
• ¹⁰They have tails like those of scorpions with stingers,
• And in their tails is their authority to harm the people for five months.

¹¹They have their own king, the messenger of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon [meaning, ‘Destruction’], but in Greek he has [the] name Apollyon [meaning, ‘Destroyer’].

¹²Well, the first woe has passed. [But] {Look!}, after these things, two more woes are still to come!

The Sixth Trumpet Blast

¹³So [then] the sixth messenger sounded his trumpet:

And I heard [a] voice from one of the horns of the golden altar in front of The God, ¹⁴saying to the sixth messenger who held the trumpet:

‘Release the four messengers, the ones who were bound at the great [river] Euphrates!’

¹⁵Well [at that], the four messengers were untied, [yes, those] who had been prepared for the hour, month, and year; in order that they wouldn’t kill 1/3 of the humans… ¹⁶And I heard their number: the cavalry armies amounted to 20,000 times 10,000 [that is, 200 million].

Description of the Horses and Their Riders

¹⁷This is what the horses and their riders looked like in the vision:

• They wore fiery-red, hyacinth-blue, and sulfur-yellow breastplates,
• The heads of the horses are like lions,
• And fire, smoke, and sulfur come out of their mouths.

¹⁸It was by these [three] plagues (the fire, smoke, and sulfur coming out of their mouths) that 1/3 of the humans were killed. ¹⁹For the authority of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails, as their tails are like snakes with heads, and they use them to harm.

²⁰However, the rest of the humans who hadn’t been killed by these plagues still refused to repent over what they were doing, [in order that] they’d stop bowing down to the demons and the idols of gold, silver, copper, wood, and stone… Things that aren’t able to see, hear, or walk.

²¹Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality, or their stealing.

A Messenger Comes Down from the Sky

¹[Well after that,] I saw another strong messenger coming down out of the sky, surrounded [by a] cloud. [Both] the rainbow [or halo] on his head and his face were [shining] like the sun, and his feet were like columns of fire… ²And he held [a] small scroll in his hand which had been opened.

Then he put his right foot upon the sea and his left foot upon the ground. ³And he shouted in [a] loud voice… He roared like [a] lion! And when he shouted, the seven thunders spoke in their own voices.

⁴Well, I was just about to write down what the seven thunders were saying, but I heard [a] voice from the sky saying:

‘Seal up what the seven thunders said, and don’t write them [down]!’

⁵Then the messenger whom I saw standing on the sea and on the ground raised his right hand towards the sky, ⁶and he swore by the One who lives throughout ages of ages, who created the sky and everything in it, and the land and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it, that:

‘There’ll be no more delay! ⁷But in the days of the seventh messenger’s voice, when he’s about to sound [his] trumpet, then The God’s mystery was finished, [just] as he proclaimed to his own servants and to the prophets.’

Eat the Scroll

⁸Then the voice I heard from the sky was speaking with me again, saying:

‘Now, go and take the little scroll that’s been opened in the hand of the messenger, the one standing on the sea and on the ground.’

⁹So I went to the messenger, telling him to give me the [little] scroll. And he said to me:

‘[Yes,] take it and then eat it! It’ll make your stomach [feel] bitter, but it’ll be as sweet as honey in your mouth!’

¹⁰So I took the [little] scroll out of the messenger’s hand, and I devoured it… And in my mouth it was [indeed] as sweet as honey, but after I ate it, my stomach was filled with bitterness.

¹¹Then they said to me:

‘Now you must prophesy again regarding peoples, other races, languages, and many kings!’

The Two Witnesses

¹Next, I was given [a] reed that was like [a] walking stick.

Then the messenger stood [there], saying:

‘Go and measure The God’s sanctuary, the altar, those who are bowing down in it, ²and the inside courtyard of the sanctuary. Exclude the courtyard outside of the sanctuary; don’t measure it, because it was given to the other races and they’re going to trample the Holy City under their feet for 42 months.

³‘And I will give [a message] to my two witnesses, and they’ll prophesy for 1,265 days clothed in sackcloth.

⁴‘These [two witnesses] are the two olive trees and the two lampstands who’ve been standing before the Lord of the earth.

⁵‘If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth[s] and consumes their enemies; [yes,] if anyone should wish to hurt them, that’s how that one will certainly be killed!

⁶‘These [two witnesses] have the authority to close up the sky so that rain won’t fall during the time of their prophesying. And they’re [also] authorized to turn water into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague — as often as they want!’

⁷‘Then when they finish their witnessing, the wild animal that comes up out of the abyss will war with them, and will conquer them, and will kill them. ⁸Their corpses will be [lying] on the street of the great city, which is spiritually called ‘Sodom’, and ‘near the river’, and ‘Egypt’ — where the Lord himself was impaled on [a] stake.

⁹‘There, those from the [various] tribes, peoples, languages, and ethnic groups look at their downfall for 3-1/2 days, and they won’t let their corpses be placed in [the] tombs.

¹⁰‘And those living on the land are happy over [what happened to] them and are pleased. Also, they’ll even send gifts to each other [in celebration], because these two prophets tormented those living on the land.’

¹¹But after 3-1/2 days, the breath of life from The God entered into them and they stood upon their feet, and those who were watching them were terrified!

¹²Then [the two witnesses] heard [a] loud voice from the sky saying to them:

‘Come on up here!’

And their enemies saw them ascend into the sky in [a] cloud.

¹³And right then, there was [a] tremendous shaking, and 1/10^th of the city toppled. And the names of 7,000 people were killed in the earthquake.

This frightened all those who were left, and they gave glory to The God of heaven.

¹⁴Well, the second woe has passed. {Look!}, the third woe comes soon!

The Seventh Trumpet Blast

¹⁵Then the seventh messenger sounded [his] trumpet, and there were loud voices in the sky shouting:

‘The kingdom of this world has become our Lord’s and his Anointed One’s… And he will reign throughout ages of ages! May it be so!’

¹⁶And [I saw] the 24 elders, [each one] sitting on his own throne in front of The God, and they fell to their faces and bowed low to The God ¹⁷saying:

‘We thank You, O Lord, The God, the Almighty, The One who is The One who was… Because You have taken the great power of Yours and began to reign.

¹⁸‘[Yes,] the nations were angered, but Your rage arrived, and [also] the time for the dead to be judged, and [the time] to give the reward to Your servants the Prophets, to the Holy Ones, and to those who fear Your Name — the small and the great; and to destroy those corrupting the earth.’

¹⁹Then, in the sky, The God’s temple sanctuary was opened, and his Chest of the Sacred Agreement appeared in his temple sanctuary.

Then there occurred lightning, voices, thundering, [a] shaking, and [a] large hailstorm.

The Pregnant Woman And the Dragon

¹Then [a] great sign appeared in the sky… There was [a] woman who had:

• The sun wrapped around her,
• The moon under her feet,
• And [a] garland of 12 stars on her head.

²[She was also] pregnant, and being in labour, she screams in agony to give birth!

³Then another sign appeared in the sky:

{Look!} There was [a] huge fire-red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads there were seven royal turbans. ⁴His tail sweeps away 1/3 of the stars of the sky, and then it threw them down on the ground!

The dragon then stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gives birth, he might devour it!

⁵Well, she did give birth… To [a] son, [a] male who is destined to shepherd all the races with [an] iron rod.

Then her child was snatched away to The God and to his throne, ⁶and the woman escaped into the wilderness to [a] place that The God had prepared for her, where they might nourish her for 1,265 days.

MichaEl Wars With The Dragon

⁷Then, [a] war broke out in the sky!

MichaEl and his messengers engaged in battle with the dragon, and the dragon and his messengers fought back… ⁸But [the dragon] lost and there was no longer any place for them in the sky. ⁹So the huge dragon was thrown down (the ancient snake who’s called ‘the Slanderer’ and ‘the Opposer’, the one misleading the entire inhabited earth); he was thrown down to the earth, and his messengers were thrown down with him.

¹⁰And at that, I heard [a] loud voice in heaven say:

‘Now our God’s salvation, power, and Kingdom have arrived;
And the empowering of his Anointed One,
Because our brothers’ prosecutor was cast down,
Who accuses them before The God, [both] day and night!

¹¹‘Via the lamb’s blood, they conquered him,
And by their testimony’s message;
For they didn’t value their own lives,
Even to the point of death!

¹²‘For this, rejoice, [you] heavens and those living there!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
For the Slanderer came down to you, having great rage,
Knowing that he [only] has [a] short time.’

The Dragon’s Rage

¹³Then, when he saw that the dragon had been thrown down to the earth, he drove out the woman who gave birth to the boy, ¹⁴and the woman was given [a] massive eagle’s two wings so she could fly [away] into the wilderness, to her place where she’s nourished for 3-1/2 times, [away] from the snake’s gaze.

¹⁵Then the snake poured [a] river of water out of his mouth after the woman in [an] attempt to sweep her away!

¹⁶But the ground came to the woman’s aid… It opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon poured out of his mouth.

¹⁷This made the dragon so angry with the woman that he went off to wage war with the rest of her offspring (those obeying The God’s instructions and carrying Jesus’Yeshua’sIshoa’s testimony).

The Wild Beast Coming Out Of The Sea

¹⁸And [I] stood on the seashore…

¹And {look!}, I saw coming up out of the sea [a] wild animal, with ten horns and seven heads!

On its horns were ten royal turbans, and [a] blasphemous name on its heads.

²This wild animal that I saw was like [a] leopard, but it had feet like [a] bear and its mouth was like [a] lion’s mouth.

And the Dragon gave it his power, and his throne, and great authority.

³One of its heads [looked] like it had been mortally wounded, but its deathblow had been healed. Well, the whole earth was astonished, [and began] following the wild animal… ⁴And they bowed down to the dragon, because he gave the wild animal its authority.

And they bowed before the wild animal, saying:

‘Who [else] is like this wild animal? And who is able to fight against it?’

⁵Then [the animal] was given [a] mouth which was speaking grand things and blasphemies, and it was given the authority to do whatever it wants [for] 42 months. ⁶So it opened its mouth and spoke blasphemous things against The God, to blaspheme his name, his tent, and those encamped in heaven.

⁷And it was allowed to go to war against the holy ones and to conquer them; and it was given authority over every tribe, people, language, and race, ⁸and they will bow low before it, [yes,] all those on the earth whose names aren’t written in the lamb’s Scroll of Life — the one who’s been slain since the founding of the arrangement.

⁹Now, anyone who has ears should listen to this:

¹⁰If someone goes into captivity, [[that one will go into captivity]], if someone kills with [a] sword, that one must be killed with [a] sword.

Here is [where] the endurance and faith of the holy ones [is needed]!

The Two-Horned Wild Beast

¹¹Then I saw another wild animal coming up out of the ground!

It had two horns like [a] lamb, but it was talking like [a] dragon, ¹²and in its presence, it carries out all the authority of the first wild animal.

And it compels the land and all those living in it to bow down to the first wild animal whose deathblow had been healed.

¹³It also performs great miracles, so that it even makes fire come down from the sky onto the earth before the people, ¹⁴and deceives those living on the earth with the signs that it’s allowed to perform in front of the wild animal, telling those living on the earth:

‘And [start] to make [a] likeness to the wild animal that had survived the sword stroke!’

¹⁵Then it was allowed to give breath to the likeness of the wild animal so that the wild animal’s image may also speak and will cause everyone who doesn’t bow down to the wild animal’s image to be executed.

¹⁶And it will compel all the small and the great, the poor and the rich, and the free and the indentured, so that they may give themselves [a] branding on their right hands or on their foreheads, ¹⁷and so that nobody may be able to buy or sell except the one who has the wild animal’s branding, or its name, or its name’s number.

¹⁸Here [is where] the wisdom is:

Let the one who has [an] intellect calculate the wild animal’s number; for it’s [a] human’s number:

[It’s] 666.

The Lamb And The 144,000 On Mount Zion

¹Then, {Look!} I saw the lamb standing on Mount Zion. With it there were 144,000 having its name and its father’s name written on their foreheads.

²I also heard [a] noise coming from the sky that sounded like many waters and like loud thunder.

Well, the sound that I heard was like that of musicians playing harps to him, ³and they are singing [a] new song in front of the throne, the four wild beasts, and the elders.

And nobody was able to understand [or, learn] the song except the 144,000 — those who had been purchased from the earth. ⁴These are the ones who weren’t polluted with women; in fact, they’re virgins following the lamb wherever he goes. They were bought from out of the humans, firstfruits for The God and for the lamb, ⁵and no lies were found in their mouths, for they’re faultless.

The Three Messengers Flying in the Sky

⁶Then I saw another messenger flying high in the midst of the sky, and he had age-long good news to proclaim to those stationed on the earth and to every ethnic group, tribe, language, and people.

⁷Shouting, [he said]:

‘Fear The God and glorify him, because his hour of judgment has arrived!

‘So bow down to the one who made the sky, the land, the sea, and the water springs!’

⁸Then another, second messenger followed, saying:

‘[She has] fallen! The Great Babylon [has fallen]!

‘All the ethnic groups have fallen because of the wine of her wrathful sexual immorality!’

⁹And another, third messenger followed them, shouting:

‘If anyone bows down to the wild animal and its image and receives [a] brand on his forehead or on his hand, ¹⁰he will drink the wine of The God’s anger that’s been mixed undiluted in the cup of his rage, and he will be tortured in fire and sulphur in front of holy messengers and in front of the lamb.

¹¹‘And the smoke of their torture will ascend throughout the ages of ages, and they won’t have any rest, day and night… [Yes, that’s what will happen to] those bowing down to the wild animal and its image, and if anyone receives the branding of its name.

¹²‘Here is the endurance of the holy ones… Those keeping The God’s commandments and Jesus’Yeshua’sIshoa’s faithfulness!’

¹³Then I heard [a] voice coming from the sky saying:

‘Write this:

‘From now on, the dead who die in the Lord are blest!

‘Yes, the breath says: Let them rest from their hard labor… And may their [good] deeds follow them!’

The Grain Harvest

¹⁴Then I saw {Look!} [a] white cloud, and [someone] sitting on the cloud looked like [a] human. He had [a] gold garland on his head and [a] sharp sickle in his hand.

¹⁵Then another messenger came out of his temple sanctuary, shouting at the top of his voice to the one sitting on the cloud:

‘Send out your sickle and reap, because it’s time for the harvest! Yes, the earth’s harvest has dried up [and is ready for harvesting]!’

¹⁶So at that, the one sitting on the cloud lowered his sickle to the ground and the earth was harvested.

The Grape Harvest

¹⁷Then another messenger came out of the temple sanctuary in the sky, also carrying [a] sharp sickle. ¹⁸[He was followed by yet] another messenger who came out from the altar, [the one] having the authority over the [altar] fire.

And this one shouted loudly to the one holding the sharp sickle, saying:

‘Now send out your sharp sickle and harvest the grape clusters from the earth’s vine… Because its grapes are now fully ripe!’

¹⁹So the messenger lowered his sickle to the ground and harvested the earth’s vine. Then he threw [the grapes] into the great winepress of The God’s rage… ²⁰Then, outside the city, the winepress was worked by foot, but blood came out of the winepress, [streaming out to the height of a] horse’s bridle for 1,600 stadia [200 miles / 320km]!

The Seven Plagues

¹And I saw another great and wonderful sign in the sky…

There were seven messengers holding seven plagues — the last [ones], because they would bring [an] end to God’s rage.

²Then I saw what looked like [a] sea of crystal mixed with fire.

And standing on the crystal sea were those who had conquered the wild animal, its image, and from the number of its name; [they were] holding [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” The God’s harps, ³and they were singing the song of God’s servant Moses and the song of the lamb.

Saying:

‘Everything that you may do,
O [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” The God, The Almighty,
Is wonderful and great, King of the ages,
Your ways are righteous and true!

⁴‘And who will not fear you, [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord”,
And will [not] praise your name?
Because you alone [are] holy,
For all nations will come and bow to you;
For your righteous acts were revealed.’

Seven Golden Bowls

⁵Well, after these things, I looked [up], and the temple sanctuary [inside] the Tent of Proofs had been opened up in the sky… ⁶And the seven messengers holding the seven plagues came out of the temple sanctuary, wearing clean, shining linen, and wrapped around their chests were golden sashes.

⁷Then one of the four wild beasts gave the seven messengers golden bowls that were full of The God’s rage — [yes,] the one who lives throughout ages of ages. Amen!

⁸And then the temple sanctuary became so filled with smoke from The God’s glory and power that nobody could enter it until the seven messengers’ seven plagues were finished.

Pour Out the Bowls!

¹Well, after that, I heard [a] loud voice coming from the temple sanctuary telling the seven messengers:

‘Go and pour out the seven bowls of The God’s rage onto the earth!’

Bowl One: On The Ground

²So the first one went and poured his bowl out on the ground, and [a] very bad malignant boil broke out on the people who had the wild animal’s brand and who were bowing down to its image.

Bowl Two: Into The Sea

³Then the second one poured his bowl into the sea, and it became like [a] dead person’s blood. So every living person [sailing] upon the sea died.

Bowl Three: Into The Rivers

⁴Then the third [messenger] poured his bowl upon the rivers and the water springs, and [they] turned into blood.

⁵Then I heard this messenger of the waters saying:

‘The Holy One,
The one who is and who was,
You are righteous.

‘For you’ve judged these things,
⁶Because they shed the blood of holy ones and prophets.

‘So you gave them blood to drink;
That’s what they deserve!’

⁷Then I heard the altar say:

‘Yes, O [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” The God, the Almighty!
Your judgments are righteous and true.’

Bowl Four: On The Sun

⁸Then the fourth [messenger] poured his bowl out upon the sun, which caused it to scorch the people with fire.

⁹So the humans were scorched with a tremendous heat, and they blasphemed the name of The God who has the authority over these plagues, and they didn’t repent and glorify him.

Bowl Five: On The Throne

¹⁰Then the fifth [messenger] poured out his bowl on the throne of the wild animal, and its kingdom became dark and [its inhabitants] were biting their tongues out of distress!

¹¹So they blasphemed The God of heaven for their distresses, [and their sores]spurious? and they didn’t repent. [of their deeds]spurious?

Bowl Six: Into The River

¹²So then the sixth [messenger] poured out his bowl into the river – the great Euphrates – and its water dried up! [He did this] so that the way for the kings from the sunrise would be prepared.

¹³Then three unclean breaths [that looked] like frogs were produced out of the mouths of the dragon, the wild animal, and the false prophet, ¹⁴because they are demonic breaths.

Performing signs, they go out to the kings of the whole inhabited earth in order to assemble them to the battle of the Great Day of The God, the Almighty.

¹⁵'{Look!} I arrive like [a] thief!

‘So, the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes on will be blest… He won’t have to walk around naked and have [others] see his shame.’

¹⁶And they assembled [all the earth’s kings] in [a] place that’s called ‘ArMagedon’ in Hebrew.

Bowl Seven: Into The Air

¹⁷And the seventh messenger poured out his bowl upon the air.

Then [a] loud voice boomed out from [the throne]spurious? The God’s temple sanctuary, proclaiming:

‘It’s happened!’

¹⁸This was followed by thunders, lightning strikes, and voices.

The Great Shaking and Hailstorm

Then there was [an] earthquake; it was so huge that nothing like it has happened since humans have been on the earth, [yes,] such an enormous, great shaking! ¹⁹So the great city became [split] into three parts, and the cities of the other races fell down!

Then The God remembered The Great Babylon, to give her [a] cup of wine – the anger of [his] rage.

²⁰And all the islands fled away and no mountains were found.

²¹Then enormous hail, [each] about the weight of [a] talent [75 pounds / 34kg] fell out of the sky upon the people. And the people blasphemed The God over the plague of hail, because the calamity was extremely severe.

The Great Babylon

¹Then one of the seven messengers who had the seven bowls came over and spoke to me.

He said:

‘Come here and I’ll show you the judgment on the great prostitute sitting over many waters, ²with whom the earth’s kings had immoral sex, and who got everyone living on earth drunk from the wine of her sexual immorality.’

³So he carried me away in the wind [or, the breath] into the wilderness… And [there] I saw [a] woman who was sitting on [a] scarlet[-colored] wild animal that was covered in blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

⁴This woman was wearing purple and scarlet [clothing] that was decorated with gold, precious gems, and pearls. [She was also] holding [a] gold cup in her hand [that was] full of disgusting things and the filth of her sexual immorality, and of the earth.

⁵She also had [a] name written on her forehead, [a] mystery:

‘The Great Babylon, the Mother of the Prostitutes and of Earth’s Disgusting Things.’

⁶Then I noticed that this woman was drunk on the blood of the holy ones, as well as on the blood of Jesus’Yeshua’sIshoa’s witnesses.

Well, at seeing her, I was confused and really amazed.

The Wild Animal Explained

⁷So the messenger asked me:

‘Why are you confused? I’ll tell you the mystery of the woman and of the wild animal with the seven heads and ten horns that she’s riding.

⁸‘The wild animal you saw had once been, but then it was not, but is about to come out of the abyss, and then it’ll go off into destruction.

‘And those living on the earth will marvel as they look at the wild animal, because it once was, is no longer, but is present [again]! But since the founding of the world, their names haven’t been written in the Scroll of Life.

⁹‘Here’s where [one needs] to have understanding and wisdom:

‘The seven heads are seven mountains upon which the woman is sitting.’

'And there are seven kings; ¹⁰five have fallen, one is, and the other hasn’t arrived yet. But when he gets here, for him, only a short time is necessary.

¹¹‘However, the wild animal that was, but isn’t, this one is [an] eighth king that comes out from the [other] seven, and it’ll go off into destruction.

¹²‘Now, the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who haven’t received [a] kingdom yet, but they do receive authority as kings for one hour with the wild animal, ¹³and these [all] have the same purpose… And they give their power and authority to the wild animal.

¹⁴‘These will fight against the lamb, but because he’s the Lord of lords and King of kings, the lamb and those who are with him (the called, elected, and faithful one) will conquer them.’

The Prostitute To Be Destroyed

¹⁵And he said to me:

‘These things, the waters that you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples and crowds, [yes,] ethnic groups and languages.

¹⁶‘Well, the ten horns and the wild animal that you saw will hate the prostitute, and they’re going to lay her waste and leave her naked…

‘Then they’ll eat her flesh and burn her down with fire!

¹⁷‘Because The God put it into their minds to carry out their judgment, [a] single judgment, and to hand over their kingdoms to the wild animal, until The God’s words are fulfilled.

¹⁸‘Now, the woman whom you saw is the great city reigning over the earth’s kingdoms.’

The Great Babylon Falls

¹Well after all that, I saw another messenger coming down out of the sky. This one was so very powerful that the earth was lit up from his glory!

²Then he shouted in [a] mighty voice, saying:

‘The Great Babylon has fallen, and she has become [a] home for demons, [a] prison for unclean spirits, and [a] cage for every unclean and hated [scavenger] bird!

³‘Because all the nations have fallen from the wine of the rage of her sexual immorality… And earth’s kings had immoral sex with her, and the earth’s traders became rich through the power of her shameless luxury.’

⁴And at that, I heard another voice coming from the sky that said:

‘Get out of her, my people, so you won’t share in her sins and so you won’t suffer from her plagues!

⁵‘For her sins have piled up all the way to the sky, and The God has remembered all her unjust acts…

⁶‘And pay her back double what she dished out, yes, double the things that she’s done! In her cup that she mixed, may twice as much be poured out for her!

⁷‘For as much as she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, pay her back that much in pain and sorrow!

‘Because in her mind she says [to herself]:

‘I’m [a] sitting queen, I’m no widow, and I’ll never experience mourning!’

⁸‘So, that’s why her plagues will come upon her in [a] single day – death, mourning, and famine – and she’ll be entirely consumed by fire, because mighty [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” The God is the one condemning her!

⁹‘Then the earth’s kings who had immoral sex with her and who lived in shameless luxury with her will bawl and beat themselves in grief over her, when they see the smoke from her burning.

‘¹⁰However, they’ll stand at [a] distance, because they’ll be afraid of her torture, saying:

‘Woe! Woe!

‘The great city, the great Babylon, the mighty city!

‘For your condemnation arrived in [a] single hour!’

¹¹‘Also, your land’s traders will bawl and mourn over her, because nobody buys their cargo anymore, ¹²[yes,] cargo of:

• Gold and silver,
• Precious gemstone and pearls,
• Fine linen,
• Purple [dye],
• Silk,
• Scarlet,
• Every scented wood,
• Every ivory container,
• Every container made of precious wood, copper, and iron
• [Marble,]spurious?
• ¹³Cinnamon,
• [Cardamom,]spurious?
• Incense,
• Ointment,
• Frankincense,
• Wine,
• Oil,
• Fine flour,
• Wheat,
• Cattle,
• Sheep,
• Horses,
• Coaches,
• Workers,
• And human lives.

¹⁴‘Yes, your deeply desired ripe fruit has left you, as has everything rich and splendid… [They’re] no longer available to you, and they’ll never find them again!

¹⁵‘The traders of these [goods], those who became rich from her, will stand at some distance from her, bawling and mourning, because they’ll [also] be afraid of her torture.

¹⁶‘They’ll say:

‘Woe! Woe!

‘The great city, clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet; and richly covered in gold, precious gemstone, and pearl! ¹⁷For such great wealth was laid waste in [a] single hour!’

‘And every ship captain, everyone who sails to this place, sailors, and everyone who works [on] the sea, they [also] stood some distance away ¹⁸and they were crying out as they watched the smoke of her burning, saying:

‘What [other city] is like the great city?’

¹⁹‘Then they threw dust on their heads, crying out, bawling, and mourning:

‘Woe! [[Woe!]]

‘The great city that made everyone with seafaring ships get rich from her extravagance! For she was laid waste in [a] single hour!’

²⁰‘O heavens, holy ones, apostles and prophets – rejoice over her, because The God ruled [to bring] your condemnation against her!’

Sunk Like a Millstone

²¹Then [a] mighty messenger picked up [a] stone like [a] huge millstone and threw it into the sea, shouting:

‘That’s how fast Babylon, the great city, will be thrown [down]!

‘And never again will [anyone] find within her ²²the sounds of harpists, musicians, and flutists; and trumpets won’t be heard in her anymore. Nor will any craftsman [of whatsoever craft he be]spurious? be found in you anymore. [and the stone of [a] millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee]spurious?

²³‘No lamplight will ever shine in you again. And the voice of [a] bride and groom won’t be heard in you again.

‘For her traders were once the world’s most important people, and she misled all the nations with her witchcraft… ²⁴And the blood of prophets, holy ones, and everyone who was slaughtered on the earth, was found within her!’

A Huge Crowd Praises The God

¹Well after these things, I heard [something] like the sound of [a] huge crowd in the sky proclaiming:

‘Hallelujah! [meaning, ‘Praise Jah']

'[Yes, praise] the salvation, the glory, and the power of our God, ²because his judgments are righteous and true!’

‘For he condemned the great prostitute who made the earth filthy with her sexual immorality, and he avenged the blood of his servants [who were killed] by her hands!’

³Then they shouted [a] second time:

‘Hallelujah! [meaning, ‘Praise Jah']

‘And her smoke will keep ascending throughout the ages of ages!’

⁴And at that, the 24 elders and the four wild animals got down and bowed low to The God (the one sitting on the throne), saying:

‘May it be so! Hallelujah! [meaning, ‘Praise Jah']'

⁵Then [a] voice came out from the throne, saying:

‘Praised is our God [by] all his servants, those fearing him, the humble and the prominent!’

⁶Then I heard [something] like the sound of [a] huge crowd, along with the noise of [a] lot of water and heavy thunder, shouting:

‘Hallelujah! [meaning, ‘Praise Jah']

‘For [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord” our God, the Almighty, began ruling [as king]! ⁷Let’s rejoice, shout in joy, and we will glorify him, since it’s time for the lamb’s wedding and his bride has prepared herself.

⁸‘And she was granted [the right] to dress herself in bright, clean, fine linen… For the fine linen is the righteous acts of the holy ones.’

⁹Then he says to me:

‘Write this down:

‘Those who’ve been invited to the lamb’s wedding banquet are blest!’

And he added:

‘God really said this.’

Bowing to the Messenger

¹⁰Well, I got down in front of his feet to bow low to him. But then he says to me:

‘Be careful… Don’t do that!

‘I’m just [a] fellow servant of you and your brothers, those bearing Jesus’Yeshua’sIshoa’s testimony. Bow down to The God, for the testimony of JesusYeshuaIshoa is the prophecy’s breath of life.’

Faithful and True on the White Horse

¹¹Then I saw that the sky had opened up…

And {Look!}, [a] white horse, and the one sitting on it was called ‘Faithful’ and ‘True’, and he judges and fights righteously.

¹²But:

• His eyes are [a] firey flame,
• He has several royal headbands on his head (which have names written [on them] which nobody knows except him),
• ¹³And is wearing [a] cloak splattered with blood.

And his name is called ‘The Word of The God’.

¹⁴And the armies in heaven were following him on white horses, wearing fine linen – white and clean.

¹⁵Also, [a] long pointed sword protrudes from his mouth so that he may strike the nations with it; for he will shepherd them with [an] iron rod.

And with his feet he works the winepress of The God’s (the Almighty’s) wine of anger and rage.

¹⁶And on his cloak and his thigh [a] name has been written:

‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords.’

The Messenger on the Sun

¹⁷Then I saw another messenger who was standing on the sun, and he shouted in [a] loud voice, saying to all the birds flying in the sky:

‘Come here!

‘Gather together for The God’s great feast!’

¹⁸[This was] so they may eat the flesh of kings, generals, strong men, horses and those riding them, and the flesh of all freemen and also slaves, [yes, both] the humble and the prominent.

The Wild Animal and the Kings of the Earth Gather to Fight

¹⁹Then I saw the wild animal and earth’s kings and their armies, assembled to wage war against the one sitting on the [white] horse and his army.

²⁰Then the wild animal was captured, along with the false prophet (the one who performed the signs in front of it that he’d used to mislead those who received the branding of the wild animal, as well as those bowing to its image).

Then, while still alive, they were both tossed into the fiery lake, the one burning with sulfur. ²¹As for the rest, they were killed by the long sword of the one on the [white] horse (the [one] protruding from his mouth).

Then all the birds were filled up with their flesh.

The Dragon is Chained

¹Then I saw another messenger coming down out of the sky holding the key to the abyss and [a] huge chain in his hand…

²Then he grabbed the dragon – the ancient snake, who is the slanderer and the opposer – and imprisoned him [for 1,000 years, and threw him]^{spurious? 3}in the abyss, closed [it], and locked [it] up over him so he can’t mislead the nations anymore until the 1,000 years have elapsed.

After these things, he must be released for [a] little while.

The First Resurrection

⁴Then I saw thrones, and they sat down on them… And they were given [the authority to cast] judgment and the lives of those who had been beheaded with axes because of [their spreading] the testimony of JesusYeshuaIshoa and for speaking about God [or, the Word of The God].

Therefore, whoever hadn’t bowed down to the wild animal nor its image (and hadn’t received its branding on their foreheads or on their hands), they lived [again], and they reigned with the Anointed One for 1,000 years.

⁵[The rest of the dead didn’t come to life until the end of the thousand years]^spurious?

This is the first resurrection.

⁶The one who has [a] part in the first resurrection is blest and holy; the second death has no power [or, authority] over that one. Instead, they’ll be priests of The God and of the Anointed One and they’ll reign with him for the 1,000 years.

⁷And when the 1,000 years have ended, the slanderer will be set free from his prison ⁸and he’ll go out to mislead all the ethnic groups in all four corners of the earth – the Gog and the Magog – in order to assemble them all for the war…

There’ll number as many as the [grains of] sand in the sea!

⁹And they marched over the whole land and they surrounded the holy ones’ encampment and the loved city… But then fire from The God came down out of the sky and consumed them!

¹⁰Then the slanderer (the one misleading them) was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the wild animal and the false prophet [are], and they’ll be tortured day and night throughout the ages of ages.

The Dead Judged, Death Destroyed

¹¹Then I saw someone sitting on [a] huge shining throne… And before him the land and the sky ran away and space for them couldn’t be found.

¹²I also saw the dead – the prominent and the humble – standing in front of the [shining] throne, and scrolls were opened.

And another scroll was opened, which is the [one] of life. And the dead were judged by the things that were written in the scrolls, according to the things they’d done.

¹³Then the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and death and the place of the dead gave up the dead who were in them, and each of them was judged by the things that they’d done.

¹⁴And [both] death and the place of the dead were thrown into the lake of fire (this lake of fire is the second death), ¹⁵and if anyone wasn’t found written in the scroll of life, that person was also thrown into the lake of fire.

The Freshly New Sky, Land, and JeruSalem

¹Then I saw [a] freshly new sky and [a] freshly new land, because the first sky and the first land had gone away, and also the sea is no more.

²And I saw the city, the freshly new holy JeruSalem, descending out of the sky from The God, prepared like [a] bride beautifully dressed for [marriage to] her man.

³And [that’s when] I heard [a] loud voice from the throne saying:

'{Look!} The God’s tent is among mankind! He’ll camp with them, and they’ll be his people, and he, The God, will be with them.

⁴‘He’s going to wipe every tear from their eyes and there won’t be any more death, nor will there be any more wailing or mourning; what once was, has gone away!’

⁵And the one sitting on the throne said:

'{Look!} I’m making everything freshly new!’

And he said to me:

‘Write this down, because these words are trustworthy and true.’

Life for the Thirsty

⁶Then he says to me:

['It has been accomplished]^spurious?

‘I am the Alpha and the Omega – the beginning and the end – and I’m going to give the thirsty one [a] drink from the Spring of the Water of Life – for free!

⁷‘Yes, the one who conquers will inherit these things…

‘And I will be his God, and to me, he will be [a] son!

⁸‘But the cowards, the unbelievers, the detestable, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magical arts, the idol worshipers, and all the liars… Their share is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death!’

The Holy City

⁹Well, then one of the seven messengers (those with the seven bowls full of the last seven plagues) came and spoke with me, saying:

‘Come and I’ll show you the bride… The lamb’s woman!’

¹⁰So he carried me off in the wind [or, ‘breath'] to the top of [an] enormously high mountain, and there he showed me JeruSalem, the Holy City, descending out of the sky from The God, ¹¹having glory from The God.

Its illumination is like the most precious gems, like [a] crystal-clear jasper stone.

¹²[It] has high and thick walls with 12 gates, and [standing] on the gates are 12 messengers, with their names inscribed on them, which are those of the 12 tribes of the sons of IsraEl.

¹³There are three gates to the east, three gates to the north, three gates to the south, and three gates to the west.

¹⁴The city’s wall also has 12 foundation stones, and the 12 names of the lamb’s 12 apostles [are inscribed] on them.

The City is Measured and Described

¹⁵Then the one speaking with me held up [a] golden reed [which he would use as a] measuring stick, so he could measure the city, its gates, and its wall…

¹⁶Now, the city is square – as long as it is wide. So he measured the [entire] city with the reed. Its length, width, and height are all one: 12,000 stadia [~1,360 miles / ~2,220 km].

¹⁷Then he measured [the thickness of] its wall: 144 cubits [~270 feet / ~82 m], using the human’s measure (which is [also the] messenger’s).

¹⁸The wall’s construction [is of] jasper, and the city [is made from] gold that’s as pure as clear glass.

¹⁹The foundations of the city’s wall was decorated with every kind of precious gem:

• The 1^st foundation [is] jasper,
• The 2^nd, [blue] sapphire,
• The 3^rd, chalcedony,
• The 4^th, [green] emerald,
• ²⁰The 5^th, red onyx,
• The 6^th with [dark red] sardius,
• The 7^th with [yellow-green] chrysolite,
• The 8^th with beryl,
• The 9^th with topaz,
• The 10^th with [olive] chrysoprase,
• The 11^th with jacinth,
• And the 12^th with [purple] amethyst.

²¹Also, the 12 gates [are] pearls (each one of the gates was made of [a] single pearl), and the city’s [main] street [is paved with] gold as pure as clear glass.

The City’s Temple Sanctuary and Lamp

²²I didn’t see [a] temple sanctuary within [the city], for the Lord God, the Almighty, is its temple sanctuary (and the lamb). ²³And the city doesn’t need the sun or moon to shine upon her, because The God’s glory shone upon her, and the lamb [is] her lamp.

²⁴And all the nations will walk thanks to her light, and the earth’s kings [will] bring their glory into her.

²⁵Her gates will never be closed [at the end of the] day, since night won’t exist there, ²⁶and they’ll bring [in] the glory and honor of the nations.

²⁷And nothing that’s common, nor anyone who does disgusting things or tells lies will ever enter it… Just those [whose names are] written in heaven’s Scroll of Life.

The River of Life

¹Then he showed me the water of The River of Life, shimmering like crystal, flowing out from The God’s and the lamb’s throne, ²down the middle of her main street, and the river banks [Tree of Life]^spurious? producing 12 fruits, yielding its fruit during each month. And the tree leaves [are] for healing the nations, ³and every cursed thing will no longer exist.

And The God’s and the lamb’s throne will be in her, and his servants will minister to them, ⁴and they’ll see his face, and his name [will be written] on their foreheads.

⁵Then there won’t be any more night, [so] they no longer need lamplight or sunlight, because [Jehovah][Yahweh]“Lord”, The God, will shine upon them, and they’ll reign throughout ages of ages.

⁶Then he said to me:

‘These words are trustworthy and true.

‘Yes, The Lord, The God of the prophets’ breaths, sent his messenger to show his servants the things that must happen very soon [or, ‘quickly'].

⁷‘And {Look!} he is coming soon [or, ‘quickly']!

‘Blest [is] the one holding on to the words of this scroll’s prophecy!’

John Bows at the Messenger’s Feet

⁸Well, when I, John, the one seeing and hearing these things, heard and saw [it all], I got down to bow before the feet of the messenger showing me these things.

⁹But he [then] says to me:

‘Be careful… Don’t [do that]!

‘I’m [just] your fellow servant, and of your brothers, the prophets, and of those holding on to the words of this scroll.

‘Bow down to The God!’

Warnings from God and JesusYeshuaIshoa

¹⁰Then he says to me:

‘Don’t seal up what’s said in this scroll’s prophecy, because the due time is near…

¹¹‘Let the one acting unrighteously stay unrighteous,
The one being filthy stay filthy,
And let the holy one be made holy even more.

¹²'[For God said:]

'{Look!} I’m coming soon [or, ‘quickly']!’

‘And the reward [I’m bringing] with me [is] to repay to each person for what they’ve done.’

¹³‘I am the Alpha and the Omega;
The first and the last;
The beginning and the end.’

¹⁴‘Blest are those washing their robes so that authority over the tree of life will be [granted] to them, and they may enter the city through the gates.

¹⁵‘But the dogs, those who practice magical arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and everyone who makes and loves lies [are left on the] outside.’

¹⁶'[For JesusYeshuaIshoa says:]

‘I, JesusYeshuaIshoa, sent my messenger to testify these things to you about the congregations.

‘I am [both] the origin and the descendant of David… The bright morning star.

¹⁷‘And the breath and the bride say, ‘Come!’

‘And let the one hearing this [also] say, ‘Come!’

‘Yes, let the one who’s thirsting come; let the one who wishes to do so freely take the water of life!’

The Author’s Closing Words

¹⁸[Well, I John, say this:]

I [also] testify to the one hearing the words of this scroll’s prophecy, that if anyone adds to them, The God will add to that one the plagues written in this scroll!

¹⁹And if anyone removes words from this scroll’s prophecy, The God will remove his share from the Tree of Life and the Holy City – things which have been written [about] in this scroll.

²⁰The one testifying these things says:

‘Yes, I’m coming soon [or, ‘quickly']!’

[To which I say:]

Come, Lord JesusYeshuaIshoa, the Anointed One!

²¹May the loving care of the Lord JesusYeshuaIshoa be with the holy ones.

May it be so!
