OG Daniel 8:10 – ‘who trampled who’
It’s possible that there’s an error in the Greek grammar here in verse 10 — either through copying or in the initial translation from Hebrew or Aramaic.
Literally, the Old Greek text says:
‘from the stars it was hurled down and it was trampled underfoot by them’.
Yes, the raw text says the stars threw out the horn and they trampled on him. But the context implies that it should be the other way around. So we have added [insertions] to change or correct this, and it now agrees with what the Hebrew text says.
However, is it really a mistake? Or was there some deeper meaning there that was later erased (‘corrected’) in the Hebrew text?
