Jude 1:18: At the end of the season

Literally, the Greek here says:

‘ep eschatou tou chronou’

Or:

‘at last of the time’

See the interlinear.

While this is commonly translated as ‘in the last days’, that’s not correct.

The Greek uses the word for time (not days), and this can also mean [a] time or [a] season, and here it’s in the genitive case (signifying ownership). Therefore it owns the previous word ‘last’. In other words, it’s ‘at season’s last’. Or as we would say, ‘the season’s end’.

The phrase ‘last days’ does appear elsewhere in the Bible, such as at 2 Peter 3:3, but not here in Jude.
