Quotes in Jude
Jude does not quote from the Old Testament. However, it may have one quote that’s either from the Book of Enoch (1 Enoch) or from a now-lost midrash.
Jude 1:14-15 possibly quoting 1 Enoch
Jude 1:14-15
'{Look!} [Yahweh] will arrive with tens of millions of His holy ones to condemn them and to give all those godless ones what they deserve for the irreverent things that they’re doing in their worldly ways, as well as for all the shocking things that these godless sinners have said against Him.’
1 Enoch 1:9
Greek version:
‘Because He’s coming…
With his thousands and his holy ones
To judge everyone.
The godless, He’ll wipe out.
‘He’ll convict all flesh
Of the ungodly deeds they’ve committed,
And cruel words they’ve spoken…
Everything the ungodly sinner has said against Him.’

Our comments:
Both sources match.
Of course, there is much debate over whether Jude really quotes 1 Enoch, or if it could be that both Jude and 1 Enoch are quoting the same third source, such as a midrash of Deuteronomy 33:2. We don’t know.
